Mascot or logo — which does your brand actually need?

Mascot or logo — which does your brand actually need?

A logo and a mascot get confused a lot. They overlap, but they solve different problems.

A logo is your signature

It goes everywhere and says "this is us" in a glance. It needs to work tiny, in one color, and in a hurry. Most businesses need one before anything else.

A mascot is your personality

It can wave, react, and show up in a hundred poses. A mascot gives people someone to like, which is gold for brands that talk to customers a lot, think food, kids, games, and local shops.

So which one?

If you're just starting and need to look legit, get a logo. If you already have a logo and want customers to feel something, add a mascot. Plenty of brands run both, with the mascot's head doing double duty as an icon.

Still unsure? Tell me what you sell and who buys it, and I'll point you to the one that earns its keep.
